Another Chance….

06 Mar

image

So in my quiet time yesterday morning, I asked God for the fodder for my next post. Usually I could feel it brewing already, see the illustrations, the exact photos to use and the word flow……what did He want me to share?

Two weeks ago my coworker and I stopped at a nearby Target because I wanted to get a plaid shirt for a possible trip to the rodeo. We were joking around about getting the hat and boots to complete the ‘cowgirl’ look but as we approached the Express line, my eyes were immediately drawn to the face of the cashier and my joking words trailed off. She didn’t look right; she looked like she was in pain. My eyes honed in on her and I asked “How are you?”.

She said “I’m good”. Trying her best to mirror that statement.

With my eyes still intently on her face I said quietly “You’re in pain aren’t you?”. It seemed like we were in a vaccuum, and she said “Yes, it’s my back”.

All of a sudden the vaccuum went away and I became immensely aware that I was in uniform, in the front of Target, in the Express line with people waiting in line, and my coworker besides me. And I thought to myself ‘Lord, please don’t have me pray for this lady right now’.

I quickly got the bag with the plaid shirt and left; missing a Golden opportunity to be used by Him.

So today as I was teaching noon bible study, wrapping up Acts chapter 2, we were talking about Peter’s bold address at Pentecost. A young visitor brought up Peter’s healing of the man at the gate called Beautiful (Acts 3:1-11). God led me to share my experience.

Where was my “silver and gold have I none, but such as I have I give to thee; in the name of Jesus, get up and walk”?

Oh the transparency of my walk…..I asked HIM for another chance 😉

This is my story to share…

Blessings always

JC

O Lord, deliver us from the fear of man. Help us to only fear you and for it to be our heart’s desire to please you alone. Forgive us for the times we have let fear separate us from showing your love to others. Thank you Lord for your love. Amen.

Thanks for sharing. Most times God give us the opportunity to prove what He has placed in us and we will be carried away by the faces of those around us unknowingly to us that He want us to prove His power in us so that they can see His glory upon our lives not for pride but for His name to be glorified. May He give you the boldness you need every time and everyday to prove His glory upon your life. Boldness is very essential. More blessing to you and your family.

Well Beautiful One … The first step is to hear His heart … And that you did … I felt the anointing as you told if the approach and I felt your sadness at your missing the opportunity … BUT … He is Faithful and good and for each one we miss there is grace and love and tenderness of heart!
It encourages me just to know you were aware, He was highlighting her for you and you heard Him! So be encouraged Beautiful One of God! To stop and hear in the business of life is more than half the battle, most don’t even see the person before them!
    I loved the little pictures!
    Blessings!

      Yes, God is Good! 🙂
I think you understood my words completely…I tried to articulate the ‘vacuum feeling’ and you got it!
That’s why I so love your stories 🙂
      Blessings back at you.

JC, I can totally relate. I have walked away many times thinking I should of prayed with that person but my fear got the best of me. Praise God he forgives us and praise him for the second chances he provides. I look forward to hearing about your second chance! Thanks for sharing!

      Hi Kelly 🙂
Yes, fear does that to us, and saying a quick prayer in my car as I walk away doesn’t make me feel better about missing the moment….but indeed, thank God for another chance 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by…

Don’t beat up yourself. It happened to me before. i was to go up to a guy and tell him Jesus loves him. I din’t out of fear. I cried like a baby and beat up on myself but then the Holy Spirit told me that was me being full of myself. I am not perfect. It’s because He lives why I’m able. Trust me, you will get many more chances, God’s will.
    You’re amazing! 🙂

Being a human follower of Jesus can be such a nuisance. If only we could be superhuman! God knows what we are made of, and works things out anyway.
    Peace

I’m praying for a second chance too. I lost such opportunity yesterday in a bus while travelling home, because I was thinking of what people might say especially when I would have to cross the person beside me. And many of such opportunities I’ve lost. God help us. Sometimes we tend to fear what man might do or say to us rather than just obeying God… Thanks Sis for sharing.

Yes….the feeling sucks afterwards doesn’t it. But God is gracious. Didn’t want to share, but I do think we strengthen, learn and encourage each other. I pray you get many more opportunities as well. Glad that you’re doing well.
      Blessings 🙂

I’m certain you’ll get that second chance. It’s really when we really ask God for His courage that we could do what He really wants us to do!! 🙂
    Blessings. 🙂

Yes, courage indeed 😉 I guess that’s why the early Christians continually asked for boldness…

Sometimes we envision prayer in a formalized setting, with all eyes and hears open to see and hear what is being said when the Lord simply wants us to speak the word to that person, “be healed, in the name of Jesus!”, or since it might cause problems for her in her workplace you might share with her that you understand this is not the best place to pray for her but would she mind if you prayed for her as soon as you leave the store?, and then when she felt the healing power of God moving through her back she would know that it was a result of your prayer. There’s no distance in prayer so be open to the alternatives that God would offer in the place of the standard form of prayer that you might see as the only way to present your request to Him. You carry the message and authority of Jesus within you through the presence of His Spirit, who knows the best way to handle each situation.

    Blessings!

How great is His grace toward us!
Thank God that He gave you insight and you asked her about her problem. Whether you did it publicly or privately, could be you were the only person of faith that prayed for her that day…and I trust that you are still praying for her.
    Very good post.
