It’s time to shed your leaves… (Reblog)

29 Sep

tree 2

Early morning on November 4th as I was downstairs having some quiet time with God, He said “this is a season of Self Control”. That did not have anything to do with what I thought we were talking about, but I took note of it.

Throughout the day I thought of all the areas in which I needed that self control/discipline: Sticking to my budget, eating the foods that were best for my temple, managing my time effectively, keeping my morning appointments with God…etc. As the day turned into days and then weeks, it seemed as if the more I focused on Self Control, the more elusive it became. It really didn’t make sense. And of course, the over achiever that I am, caused me to beat up on myself.

A month later I was sitting downstairs again, early morning, and God said “You have been focusing on the wrong word in the sentence.” Okay. He said “the word you need to focus on is ‘season’. Seasons change and each season is to be used for preparation for the next”.

Then He said “look outside”. “Look at the trees, they are shedding their leaves in preparation for the next season; winter. If they don’t shed their leaves in the fall, they will not survive the winter”.

The tree in my front yard had bright red falling leaves and the one in the back yard had no leaves. So I did a quick search and found that deciduous trees shed their leaves in autumn or ‘fall’ so that they will have enough nutrients to survive in the winter. Both the tree and the leaves would not survive in the next season.

One of the things I love most about God, is that He KNOWS His children. Instead of focusing on what I couldn’t get right, He merely showed me WHY it was important for me to get it right; to exercise Self Control. If I didn’t flip my bad habits and hone in my good ones, I would not survive or be successful in the next season He has for me.

This made sense to me. It seemed like my own personal parable 🙂

So this I share….what things, habits, people, relationships are you trying to drag to the next season? What skills and habits do you need to hone in this season so that you will be ready for the next? Whatever that is….

Prepare, prepare, prepare!  Shed those leaves. Life will seem overwhelming if you don’t. Because you will only have enough energy for your own survival and none to help or tolerate anyone else.

A man without self control is like a city broken into and left without walls (Prov 25:28)

Blessings

JC

God is definitely speaking to you, my sister! It’s even more amazing when we consider how loving His correction is. Sometimes harsh, but always tender. More anointing to you!

      BTW Marlene,
Since you introduced me to Selah, I have SOOOOO fallen in love with their sound. But this one takes the cake I think 🙂

‘I Bless Your Name’…what do you think?

        Oh, JC!!

This is one of my favorites… My old church used to sing this all the time (still gives me chills). I can’t say enough good things about Selah! Did you listen to Be Still My Soul from them?

        Happy New Year friend 🙂

Loved this post! It is so reaffirming to hear how the Lord is working in the lives of others. Self-discipline is certainly something I need to work on in the coming year. Hope you have a blessed 2014 and find ways to bless others!

    HI JC
This spoke to me this morning … thank you.
It is a time of change of seasons and some of it is painful, but it is with Joy that I look towards the Son and know that the pain/struggle is all so worth it. Establishing the platform for the next generation to release the Kingdom of Heaven is worth the struggle … there is something about the Father’s Heart, I believe, that He wants the Body of Christ to get … the Prodigal’s Father’s heart … one that would lay down His own to see His son come into his full inheritance …
I also watched “I Bless Your Name” which was powerful.
I have always loved your name (actually both names lol) but the sound 33 is excellent … there are many prophetic words over Australia about a sound being released … there is something about “the Sound” and there is power in the sound of Heaven being released onto the earth 🙂
    Blessings my friend!
    God is Good!

Thank you. I actually had to come and reread this a couple days ago, so I could stay focused.

After listening to the music you suggested I know that you understand ‘the sound’ I am talking about. Sometimes I can hear the first bars of the music and know that it has that special worship to it….
Yes, there is a sound He’s waiting to hear. All of it just intrigues me and I have to stay hooked in to Him so that I don’t miss out 🙂
      Blessings my dear

You won’t miss out … one because you want to see and hear … two because He loves you and gives you the desires of your heart .. and three … He wants you to receive more than you want to get LOL!
I’m sorry I can be a little vague in my descriptions, probably the result of so little time to explain what I am writing about.
You have a sound too! And your sound is marvellous! You resonate with the sound and fragrance of Heaven … Heaven’s a very noisy place if the Bible is any indication … even the stars sing out and what is interesting is that the furtherest star that has been detected emits a B flat … which I think is rather funny because that’s what we need to be … be flat 🙂 (now that observation is not my own so I’m not that insightful … but one made by Bill Johnson).
What is also interesting is that the Australian Aboriginal people are writing worship songs in their own language and using their own sound, and it is highly anointed, because it resonates with their God given sound …
It’s a marvellous cacophony of music really 🙂
        Bless you JC!!!

PS: Isi de Gersigny is an Australian musician and prophet … I love her music and often play and sing to it at home in my time with Him … as I do Steve Swanston’s music (cd called “Hydrated” … piano worship). Both beautiful for soaking in God’s presence … x

Both of them sing and play such beautiful love songs to God. Thank you for sharing…I actually wrote them in my phone so I can add them to my iTunes when I get home 🙂

Sometimes I would wish I could sing like that to Him and one day God told me it’s not the gift that attracts you, it’s the anointing. So now I pray for the anointing so that my own gift can have the same effect 😉

Further to this comment … my husband is not capable of singing in tune … and as a musician I find it difficult to listen … and once mentioned it to him … (I know not my best moment!) well God told me off … God loves hearing him sing to him … if sounds magic to God’s ears … so sing and release Him JC … sing and watch Him call you higher in to Him … just sing your love song to Him! He delights in you just as a Father or Mother would delight in a little one dancing and/or singing for the pure joy of being alive … XXX
