Why ‘The Sound’?
Hi! Thank you for visiting! When God told me to start this blog I began to think of what I would call it. I was thinking of catchy names and He stepped in and said call it ‘The Sound’. As The Sound settled in my spirit, I smiled. I thought of the mother who knows her baby’s cry out of a room of 30 babies. I thought of knowing the different cries of my own child. The fake cry, the need some attention cry, the I’m scared cry, and the I am seriously hurt cry. With each of these sounds, I knew when and how to respond; whether with no response, slow response, or the drop everything and go get my baby response. God is no different!
He knows the cry of His children. He answers the cry of His children. Just like the mother, He knows when to move and how to move. He knows when we are broken and He knows what a sincere, broken from the heart cry sounds like.
Now the sound God is waiting to hear is not only a literal cry; it’s a sound of worship, a sound of praise, a sound of brokenness, a sound of prayer, a sound of joy, a sound of giving, a sound of purpose etc. In Exodus chapters 1 and 2, the scriptures tell of how the children of Israel were in slavery under a King/Pharaoh who did not know Joseph. The people cried out to God from their slavery to the Egyptians. And I love that it says when God heard their cry He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and He took notice (to observe with special attention) of them?
Sound goes both ways and I don’t want us to miss this. The Scriptures talk about and describe all manner of sounds. Elijah heard the sound of rushing or abundant rain, even before there was any rain (1Kings 18:41). Psalm 89:15 tells us of the blessed people who know the joyful sound. But then Psalm 100 tells us to make a joyful noise/sound. Sound is important to God. The disciples heard a mighty sound from heaven on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:2). Paul and Silas sent up sound (hymns and prayers) from their jail cell in Philippi (Acts 16:25). I could go on.
I believe William Murphy sums it up the best. He has a song called The Sound. Actually that whole CD is called The Sound. The lyrics say that there is a sound that God is waiting to hear. The sound that God will use to break us through. The same sound He heard at Jericho and in the Philippian jail. But this is the part I love. The song continues to say there is a sound that tells Me what you need. It draws Me to where you are and tells Me what you are ready for. Love it!
God is waiting for His people to get busy for Him. As I seek to be obedient, I strive for my penned words to create a sound. A sound of jubilee, a sound of worship, a sound of praise, a sound of Truth, but most importantly a sound of urgency. Urgency because God is speaking and it is vital that we hear Him and move. I pray that as your eyes scroll from left to right and you read these words, that you will hear The Sound from God and respond. Respond with your praise and worship and your own battle cry. God is waiting and listening.
Be blessed.

The child who knows the sound of the Father’s voice or anything and respond in reverence( we hear His voice and follow Him) and the Father who know the sound of His children and responds in faithfulness… I love the name and what it stands for. It’ so unique.
