Why did you tell your last lie??

tell it

tell it

Why did you tell your last lie? Don’t you just love those point blank in your face questions? Well, Friday culminated my church’s week long Summer Bible Institute. Our topic for the week was Tell The Truth…..When I heard the topic weeks ago, I knew it was going to be good. Truth in any form ‘sets us free’……so why did you tell that last lie?

Most people said they lied to be right; to avoid doing something they didn’t want to do; to avoid hurting someone else’s feeling; to save face (my answer); and some said they didn’t even know why; ‘it just came out’.

Truth is, we agree to do things we don’t want to; we lie to the person on the street and say we don’t have any money, when we do; we say we’re okay when we’re not…etc.

The lies we tell, harmless as they may seem, might bring us immediate gratification, but no benefit in the long run.

Let’s take it a little deeper. We can agree that the Word of God is the Truth that we should abide our lives by. If we are not living like those promises are true, then we are living a lie.

God said…we are fearfully and wonderfully made….but we look in the mirror and believe a lie that we are too fat or too skinny, ugly, unattractive and imperfect…

God said….you are the lender and not the borrower….but we live the lie that we will never get out of debt so there’s no need to try…

God said….I did not give you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind….but we fear and doubt everything. We don’t move when God says to move because we are afraid that things might not work out or people might think we’re crazy. When we do this, we are living a lie instead of living the truth.

God said….thus shall not kill…..yet we kill with our tongue daily. We speak ill against others and slander them. We kill dreams daily with Β our negative doubtful tongue…

If we were before the throne of God would we lie to Him in His face? No, then why do we lie now? After all He is omnipresent…

Sometimes what we choose to tell people is our opinion, not the truth. The TRUTH is rooted in the Word of God. And we can never go wrong when we stand on it. Choosing to mind our own business and stay out of it does not absolve us from bringing truth to the situation.

What truth have you been avoiding? Better yet, who have you been avoiding telling the truth to?

The TRUTH might not be what we want to hear, but it is what we NEED to grow!

Be Blessed

JC

To avoid being ridiculed, to save face…haha, thats so funny I never realized it. I believe God’s word yet tell lies to get out of a situation. Most of us christians live a two-faced life… This post is awakening.
‘The truth might not be what we want to hear, but it’s certainly what we need to grow’ This is true and beautiful. I will use it as a quote on my blog.
    Thanks.

Yes…The Truth will set us free (when we tell it, that is).

It made me more conscious of the words that come out of my mouth and the motives behind them.
